A scholarship award ceremony organized by the Alumni Association of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 10th of September 2018 at the Senate Room of the university. The scholarships were awarded to 131 undergraduates with financial difficulties at this ceremony, which was held with the objective of providing financial assistance to needy undergraduates at the University of Kelaniya.
Thripitaka Vagishvaracharya, Mahopadhyaya, Pandith, the most Venerable Welamitiyawe Dharmakirthi Sri Kusala Dhamma Thero, – the Chief Prelate of the Colombo and Chilaw regions and the Chancellor of University of Kelaniya presided over the event. Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice- Chancellor of the university, Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice- Chancellor of the university, Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments including academic staff members, Mr. Gotabhaya Jayarathne, President of the Alumni Association including its executive officers were also present at the occasion.
