As a measure of sensitizing the university community towards Gender Equity/Equality the CGSUK in association with the Department of English organized a Tri-lingual poetry reading festival on Women Empowerment. The event was held on 13th May 2013 at 2.00 pm at the Auditorium of Faculty of Commerce & Management.

Students from the Image Arts & Drama and Theatre Unit and the students of Visual & Performing Arts Unit graced the occasion with their talents. Students from the Department of English and many interested academics including the Dean, Faculty of Humanities were present at the event.



An informal ceremony presided by the Prof. Sarath Amunugama- the Vice Chancellor of University of Kelaniya was held on 14th March 2013 at 10.00 am as Centre for Gender Studies moved into the new premises at D3 building, 1st floor, and the Coordinator assumed her duties at the Centre. Addressing the gathering on behalf of the CGSUK, the Coordinator expressed the gratitude towards the Vice Chancellor for his continuous support in establishing and furnishing the Centre. All the members of the Centre for Gender Studies were present at the event.
