CSS joins hands with MEPA to clean the Negambo estuarty

Student volunteers of Center for Sustainability Solutions (CSS) actively participated a mangrove clean-up program at Negombo estuary coordinated by the Marine Environment Protection Agency (MEPA) on 30th of May 2018. This shramadana campaign was conducted with a view to creating a healthier coastal environment as well as to demonstrate the value of protecting and preserving unique mangrove habitats. Even the mangrove community in the estuary is the most diverse of all mangrove communities in the west coast of Sri Lanka its existence in future is in danger due to continuous human encroachment and dumping of domestic waste. CSS belies that its contribution to make mangrove covered area clear of waste would have a positive impact on the people live in the surrounding area of the Negombo.
