Several steps are taken by the university to facilitate publication of research findings. These include providing page charges for high impact journals, providing the required payments to make available the papers published in high impact journals online, publication of journals by the academic Departments and Faculties, and publication of proceedings of research symposia carried out at the Department and Faculty levels.
Page charges and payment for on-line publications
The University of Kelaniya places high emphasis on publication of research in journals listed in Thomson Reuters Master Journal List which covers 24 reputed databases, Scopus, Association of Business Schools (ABS) academic journals list and Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) journals list (Senate decisions - 28 December 2017).
Articles other than research papers will not be considered for providing publication fees. However, short communications, short articles and review articles will be considered for providing publication fees if those are published in journals indexed in Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index or Arts and Humanities Citation Index (Sanate decisions - 28 December 2017).
The University of Kelaniya will provide page charges and the payments required for making those papers available online.
The requests should be submitted to the Chairman of the Research Council through the Head of the Department and the Dean of the Faculty with relevant information. The applicants should provide documentary evidence showing that the journal is listed in a reputed citation index together with an invoice from the journal editorial office.
In order to get these benefits, the University address should appear below the names of the authors and the corresponding author should be a staff member of the university. The e-mail address of the corresponding author should be the university e-mail (i.e., username followed by @kln.ac.lk). In addition, the applicant should have Google Scholar and ResearchGate profiles which have been made public.
Publication of Journals
The University will also provide funding for publication of research journals in specific fields. These journals include those published by individual Departments or Faculties.
In order to get funding, the majority of the research papers of each issue should be from the staff members of the University of Kelaniya.
The University has the right to publish the journal online in the University website.
The request for funding should be submitted to the Senior Assistant Registrar/Assistant Registrar of Research and Publications. The pdf version of the camera ready copy of the relevant issue should be submitted before funds are released.
Publication of proceedings of research symposia
One of the main objectives of the Research Council is to foster a research culture in the University. In this regards each Faculty and each Department is expected to conduct research symposia in the relevant fields of studies. The Research Council of the University will provide funding for publication of the proceedings of such symposia provided that the papers submitted are peer reviewed. These proceedings will be published in the University website.
The University will publish such proceedings online in the University website also.
The request for funding should be submitted to the Senior Assistant Registrar/Assistant Registrar of Research and Publications. The PDF version of the camera ready copy of the relevant issue should be submitted before funds are released.
