Program 03 : " Trailblazer 2019" - Department of Microbiology

The Department of Microbiology organized the Soft Skill Development Programme “Trailblazer 2019” with the funding from the Career Guidance Unit of University of Kelaniya aiming to fill the gap in skill development of the undergraduates. This programme was successfully held on 7th of September, 2019 from 8.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. at the Hotel Winfield, Delgoda with the participation of 78 undergraduate students and 05 staff members of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya. The programme was conducted by a specialized trainer experienced in conducting corporate training for both local and international organizations, Mr. Vikash Pillai and his supporting team. The programme included sessions covering aspects in interpersonal communication skills, corporate business etiquette and networking, dining etiquette, goal setting, team work and leadership. These sessions were conducted as lectures and number of indoor and outdoor group activities and individual activities to provide a live experience for the students. Further, all the participants were awarded with a certificate of participation at the end of the programme and a feedback was obtained from all the students participated in the programme. The Department of Microbiology is greatly thankful for the Mr. Jayantha Munasinghe, The Director Career Guidance Unit of University of Kelaniya and his team for their immense service rendered to empower University undergraduates’ soft skills.
