A total of 65 students attended the program. The workshop commenced with a welcome speech by, Dr. M. P. N. Janadari, Head, Department of Human Resource Management. She noted that “This program is an important one as it addresses the gap between what university students learn and what is expected of them by their employers. Soft skills are a vital part of our life skills. Many of our graduates lack these skills which in turn makes it hard for them to stand out in such a competitive job market. Programmes such as this are considered with the highest priority and importance at the University of Kelaniya and many students do not get this opportunity”. She also express her gratitude to the panel of resource persons of the event.

The first session on How to be a proper interviewee was conducted by Ms. Aruni Silva, Assistant Manager HR, Esquel Sri Lanka Ltd. The second session on Table etiquette was conducted by Mr. Dussantha Ranaweera, Banquet Manager, Hoter Royal Park. The third session on Grooming was conducted by Mr. Ajith Siyambalapitita, General Manger-Human Resource & Administration of MAS Intimates. The participants got the knowledge regarding personality development and techniques that used in organization to identify the employees with different personalities. The last session Out Bound Training (OBT) was conducted by Mr. Udayanga Samarasinghe, Junior Executive HR of Heyleys Dipped Production PLC. The session included several out-door team building activities in which students can interactively participate.
