In an urban area, the importance of trees is immeasurable. Having this in mind, the Green club of the Faculty of Computing and Technology, University of Kelaniya organized “Trees for Tomorrow” event to plant trees along the University Drive to commemorate World Environment Day.
“Trees for Tomorrow” was held on 05th of June, with the participation of Dr. Chamli Pushpakumara, Dean, Faculty of Computing and Technology; Venerable Raluwe Padmasiri Thero; Mr. K.K.K. Dharmathilake, Registrar, University of Kelaniya; Dr. Wasanthi Subasinghe the Director of Center for Sustainability Solutions, University of Kelaniya; Mr. Padmakumara, representing the Central Finance PLC; and representative from ICC- MAGA join venture. The event was supported by the Central Finance PLC and ICC- MAGA join venture.
Despite the somewhat bad weather, the event successfully went underway and now all that is left is to watch as those little plants blooming into trees that would add a green tint along the university drive.
