A successful eco-friendly synthesis of AgNPs using T. longibrachaitum (Tl) and T. viride (Tv) extracellular extract as reducing and capping agents is acheived. Tv-AgNPs were found to be more efficient as larvicides than Tl-AgNPs, while A. albopictus vectors are more susceptible to both Tl-AgNPs and Tv-AgNPs. The Tl-AgNPs and Tv-AgNPs showed toxic effects on the non-targeted aquatic crustacean, Moina macrocopa at very low concentrations. This shows a potential threat to other aquatic organisms when applied to natural mosquito breeding water bodies. |
