Best Paper Award for the year 2021 in Accounting Forum

Dr. Amila Munasinghe of the Department of Accountancy of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies has been awarded the Best Paper Award – 2021 on 28th March 2022 for her authorship in publishing a paper in the Journal of Accounting Forum. The paper titled “Sustainability certification as marketisation: Rainforest Alliance in the Sri Lankan tea production industry” includes co-authors Dr. Thomas Cuckston and Dr. Nick Rowbottom from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Dr. Amila Munasinghe was awarded the Senate Honours and Cash Prize for the same article for publishing papers in internationally recognized journals indexed in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) on 23rd December 2021 by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.

100 Years of Sri Lanka Athletics, a masterpiece work by Mr. Saman Kumara Gunawardena

The “100 years of Sri Lanka Athletics” is the essence of athletics statistics compiled by Mr. GGU Saman Kumara Gunawardana, who serves as the Honorary Recorder of Sri Lanka Athletics for the last 28 years and Actg. Director of Physical Education at the University of Kelaniya and his team.

This book includes a comprehensive collection of data on athletes and a rare collection of photographs collected from the National Archives, Past Athletes, Souvenirs and other monuments of Sri Lanka Athletics, Ministry of Sports, National Olympic Committee and Many Schools. These secondary data have been collected scientifically to assure the accuracy and validity of the information as each information carried out a legacy of our nation. It has taken over two years to complete this magnificent work.

This book is a one-of-a-kind review of very rare information including detailed write-ups of competitions held before 1922, results of the First Nationals, and all the national champions thereafter till 2021, all the international participants and medalists at all-time, all the rectified national records, Sri Lanka all-time records, junior and youth records, all-time top 50 performances of each event, memories from past athletes and paper cutting  and very exclusive pictures like the inter-college relay winners at the 1st National Championships in 1922, the first Ceylonese went to Olympics Carl Van Geyzal in 1928 Amsterdam Games,  Duncan White and many other athletes from early 1950s’, Nagalingam Etheerweerasinghem first Asian  Games Gold Medalist, Nirmala Dissanalayake first female Asian Games Medalist,  SLB Rosa First Double Gold Medalist at the Asian Games, members of the 1974 Asian Games Gold Medalists, then Sriyantha, Sugath, Darsha, Sriyani, Susanthika and the new generation up to new sensation of Sri Lanka Athletics Yupun Abeykoon.
