Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, held a meeting with the university’s top researchers on the 4th of March 2024. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the upcoming initiatives for research and innovation at the University. Professor Sachith Mettananda, Chairman of the Research Council, moderated the session. Individuals such as the Registrar, Deans, Directors of Research Centers, top university researchers, and other university officials participated in the session.

The Vice-Chancellor gave an overview of the research and academic accomplishments of the University over the past five years. During the presentation, Dr. Chamli Pushpakumara, Chairman of the Ranking Committee, described publication trends, and Senior Professor Sudath Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science, presented significant innovations from the university. These presentations laid the foundation for an engaging open discussion. The meeting concluded with a united commitment to advancing research excellence, encouraging interdisciplinary collaborations, and fostering an innovative atmosphere at the University of Kelaniya.
