The food preparation and cultural event held in connection with the Mid-Autumn festival. This event was successfully conducted on 23rd September 2022 at 3:00 PM at Dharmaloka Hall. Another important point in this activity is that it was impossible to physically participate in the ceremonies due to the epidemic situation that has been going on for two years. This is also the first event that was physically organized by the Confucius Institute after the establishment of the university this year.
Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Prof. Dilrukshi Ratnayake, Head of the Department of Modern Languages, Dr. Wu Hongyuan, Co-Director of the Confucius Institute (China Side), Dr. Jani Samarakoon, Co-Director of the Confucius Institute (Sri Lankan Side) and Mrs. Cai Xin Xin and her team members for the preparation of Chinese food, the staff of the Chinese Unit and the staff of the Confucius Institute also participated in the event. More than 100 undergraduate students of the Chinese Language Unit and students of the Weekend Certificate Course In Chinese Language participated in this event. The program was announced by Ms. Shashini Kumarasinghe and Ms. Wayani Kariyawasam.
The ceremony was followed by the welcome speech by Dr. Jani Samarakoon, Co-Director of the Confucius Institute (Sri Lanka), Dr. Wu Hongyuan, Co-Director of the Confucius Institute (China), and the Inaugural Speech by Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities. Then the event officially started.
The event was colorful with the magnificent cultural elements of the students of the Chinese language unit, and then the main purpose of the event, the Moon cake preparation program, was conducted in a very lively with the participation of the students.
