The 22nd Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign University Undergraduates final round Award Ceremony was grandly held at the Dharmaloka Hall on the 01st of June 2023. The Confucius Institute at the University of Kelaniya won the overall championship, overall 2nd place, and won the first, second, and third places for Written Exam, Talen Contest & Speech Contest.
Senior Prof. Nilanthi De Silva, Vice Chancellor, UOK, Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of the Humanities, Ven. Prof. Nedalagamuwe Dhammadinna Thero , other distinguished guests on behalf of the UOK, Co-Directors from all the Confucius Institute & Confucius Classroom, Mr. Zhang Yingbao, the Culture Counsellor of Sri Lanka to the People's Republic of China, the embassy's distinguished guests and School students studying Chinese throughout the island and Teachers who teach them Chinese.
The preliminary competition organized for the undergraduates of University of Kelaniya was held at Dharmaloka Hall on 26th of April 2023 under two rounds of speech and talent competitions. 42 UOK Undergraduates were participated for the preliminary competition and among them 18 undergraduate students were selected for the final round.
For the Final Round in Sri Lanka, 18 undergraduates representing University of Kelaniya, 07 undergraduates representing Sabaragamuwa University Confucius Classroom and 06 undergraduates representing University of Colombo Confucius Institute.
The Competition was well organized by Dr. Wu Hongyuan and Dr. Jani Samarakoon, Co - Directors of Confucius Institute. Assoc. Prof. Tang Ying, Assoc. Prof. Sun Cuibi, Ms Zhu Lin, Ms He Yanling instructed the students to prepare the contents of the Competition.
Mohomed Ariff Fathima Safiya of University of Kelaniya, Nishahansi Adhikari of University of Kelaniya and Jinali pilapitiya of University of Colombo excelled among the 31 contestants and won first, second and third place respectively.
These outstanding results are a reward for the hard work of all the staff and students of the Confucius Institute at UOK and are a source of great joy and pride. This “Chinese Bridge" is a fresh starting point, contributing to the development of high-quality Chinese Language teaching and Sino-Sri Lankan cultural exchange in the 21st century. It is gratifying to see that the great achievements of the Confucius Institute of the UOK on this “Chinese Bridge" will give students a new impetus to learn the Chinese Language.
