The HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi), the official standardized examination that assesses the Chinese language proficiency of non-native speakers, was held on October 18, 2025, at the University of Kelaniya. The mock examination, which was originally scheduled to take place alongside the HSK examination, was held on October 11, 2025.
This year, 400 candidates from various parts of Sri Lanka participated, and notably, several foreign candidates also took part. To ensure the successful conduct of the exam, our staff consisted of 20 members.
The examination was successfully organized under the guidance of Senior Lecturer Sulochana Rathnayake, Co-Director (for Sri Lanka); Dr. Wu Hongyuan, Co-Director (for China); Assoc. Prof. Sun Cuibi, Ms. Liu Xin, and Ms. Wang Lin, lecturers of the Confucius Institute, along with the Chinese lecturers and staff of the Confucius Institute.
The lecturers of the Chinese Language Unit in the Department of Modern Languages also served as invigilators. Additionally, we were assisted by a teacher who graduated from the University of Kelaniya and now teaches at Bandaranaike College, Gampaha, as well as two former temporary assistant lecturers from our Chinese Unit who also served as invigilators and examination observers.
In particular, the technical officers of the Faculty of Humanities provided invaluable support to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination. We also received assistance from the university’s private security division throughout the examination day.
Thanks to everyone’s dedication and cooperation, the HSK examination was successfully conducted.
The HSK examination concluded on October 18, 2025, and the results will be released within a month. We wish all candidates the very best of luck!
