The Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK), the official standardized examination assessing Chinese language proficiency of non-native speakers, was successfully held on 24 th January 2026, at the University of Kelaniya. The mock examination, which was originally scheduled to be conducted alongside the main examination, took place earlier on January 17, 2026.
This year, 300 candidates from various regions across Sri Lanka participated in the examination. Notably, several foreign candidates also sat for the examinations with reflecting its growing international recognition. To ensure the smooth and efficient conduct of the examination, a dedicated team of 15 staff members was deployed.
The examination was organized under the guidance of Senior Lecturer Mrs. Sulochana Rathnayake, Co-Director (Sri Lanka), and Dr. Wu Hongyuan, Co- Director (China). Significant contributions were also made by Ms. He Yanling, Ms. Wang Yifan, and Mr. He Linfeng, lecturers of the Confucius Institute, along with other Chinese lecturers and staff members of the Institute. In addition, lecturers from the Chinese Language Unit of the Department of Modern Languages served as invigilators.
Special appreciation is extended to the Technical Officers of the Faculty of Humanities, whose invaluable support ensured the smooth conduct of the examination. The University’s private security division also provided assistance throughout the examination day.
Thanks to the dedication and cooperation of all those involved, the HSK examination was conducted successfully. The examination concluded on 24 th January 2026, and the results are expected to be released within one month. We extend our best wishes to all candidates for excellent results.
