The Communication & Media Unit commenced its activities on the 13th August 2007. The sole responsibility of the Communication & Media Unit is to publish information pertaining to the academia and development of the University.

Responsibilities

Covering news items for Sri Lankan media along with updating new media such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, LinkedIn and Youtube accounts are additional responsibilities of the Communication & Media Unit.

Role

Role

The Communication & Media Unit covers not only activities limited to academic subjects but also information relevant to the academic and non- academic staff of the university such as extra-curricular activities (Vishranthi Chaturya, Employer Forum, Sanjanani Media Festival, Drama Festival, Bihidora Abhiyasa, Book launches), activities of student associations, academic research, convocations of the university, international conferences, and new academic programmes of the University.

Additionally, a collection of news items related to university matters published in daily and weekly national newspapers is also maintained.  A report on such news matters is presented as a daily report to the Vice-Chancellor of the university by the Communication & Media Unit.

The Communication & Media Unit contributes to promoting links among the alumni of the University and the academic and non-academic staff of the university by distributing news and information that enhances the prestige of the University.
 
Similarly, contributing news to the University Newsletter also done by the Communication & Media Unit
