Gnāna Yātrā 2023, a media training workshop organized by the Communication and Media Unit of the University of Kelaniya, for the presenters and program producers at Sri Lanka Broadcasting Cooperation (SLBC),
was held on the 31st of May 2023 from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm at the auditorium of the Staff Development Centre of the university.
In this workshop, Senior Lecturer Wijayananda Rupasinghe of the Department of Mass Communication of the University of Kelaniya, sopke on ‘Source Research and Radio Journalism’ while Senior Lecturer Chintaka Ranasinghe of the Department of Sinhala spoke on ‘Language and Imagination’. Further, Senior Lecturer Tharindu Dhananjaya of the Department of Human Resource Management conducted a session on ‘The Communicator and Soft Skills Development’.
Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva - Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Senior Lecturer Saman Rajapaksha - Director of the Communication and Media Unit, and Mr. Hudson Samarasinghe, Chairman of SLBC graced the occasion as the honorable Chief Guests at the inauguration of this workshop. Meanwhile, over Forty journalists from SLBC participated in this workshop. The workshop was concluded with a certificate awarded to all the participants who completed the training.
