*Colombo, April 17, 2024* – On April 17, 2024, staff members from the Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Kelaniya (CGSUK) held a key meeting with the Director of the FISD and Indian academic Professor Asha Sukla. The focus of the meeting was the upcoming Gender Film Festival, an initiative aimed at exploring and promoting gender issues through cinema.
The meeting centered on finalizing the details for the festival, including film selection, programming, and event logistics. Professor Asha Sukla, with her extensive experience in gender studies and film, provided valuable insights into curating a diverse and impactful film lineup. Her expertise is expected to greatly enhance the festival's ability to address and highlight various gender-related themes.
"We are excited about the potential of this festival to spark meaningful discussions and drive awareness on gender issues through the powerful medium of film," said a CGSUK staff member.
