Dutuwewa Maha Vidyalaya, Galenbindunuwewa - The Centre for Gender Studies successfully launched the first phase of its "Senhase Matra II" program at Dutuwewa Maha Vidyalaya, Galenbindunuwewa on November 21st, 2022. This comprehensive initiative aimed to create a gender-sensitive environment within the school, empowering students with knowledge and skills to navigate a world free from bias and discrimination.

The program encompassed a variety of workshops tailored to different age groups:

  • Early Childhood Development Program (Grades 6-9): Focused on building a strong foundation for healthy development and understanding gender roles.
  • Cyber Violence Program (Grades 10-12): Addressing the increasing issue of cyberbullying and online harassment, providing students with tools to protect themselves and others.
  • Skill Development Program for School Prefects: Equipping school leaders with the skills to foster a more inclusive and supportive school environment for all students.
  • Common Sessions: Encouraging students to consider higher education and providing information about university admissions and pathways.

This program reflects the Centre for Gender Studies' commitment to promoting gender equity and equality from a young age. By fostering a culture of respect, understanding, and inclusivity within the school, "Senhase Matra II" hopes to empower students to become agents of change in their communities.
