President's message
I would like to extend my warm greetings to all alumni, students, staff, and well-wishers of our esteemed University. The Alumni Association continues to play a vital role in strengthening the lifelong bond between graduates and their alma mater while contributing to the growth and development of the University.
Our University traces its origins to the historic Vidyalankara Pirivena, established in 1875 as a renowned centre of Buddhist learning. Through its transformation into Vidyalankara University in 1959 and, ultimately, the University of Kelaniya in 1978, it has grown into one of Sri Lanka's leading institutions of higher education. Throughout its history, the University has been a pioneer in academic innovation, introducing significant advancements in higher education while maintaining its commitment to excellence.
Today, the University has built a proud legacy of academic excellence, producing graduates who have made significant contributions to Sri Lanka and the global community. As alumni, we have a shared responsibility to preserve this rich heritage and support future generations through our knowledge, experience, and commitment.
The Alumni Association remains dedicated to promoting educational, social, and welfare initiatives that benefit both our graduates and current students. Among our most meaningful programs is the Scholarship Programe, which provides financial assistance to deserving undergraduates facing economic challenges. Through the generous support of our members and well-wishers, we continue to make a positive difference in the lives of many students.
In addition to our scholarship initiatives, the Association organizes various social, professional, and community engagement activities that strengthen the spirit of fellowship among alumni. These programs provide valuable opportunities for networking, collaboration, and giving back to the University that shaped our lives.
I warmly invite all graduates, both in Sri Lanka and overseas, to remain actively involved with the Alumni Association. Your participation, encouragement, and contributions are essential in helping us achieve our mission of supporting the University and its students.
