Prof. Jiajuan Xiong from the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE), Chendu, China was on a research visit from 8th to 27th June 2023. During her visit Prof. Xiong called upon the Vice Chancellor Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva on 23rd June conveying greetings from the President of the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics Professor Zhuo Zhi.
Discussions were also held with the Head, Department of Linguistics Dr. Kavithaa Rajarathnam and Former Head of Department Ms. Kumudu Gamage on 13th June at the Department of Linguistics. Prof. Xiong announced that a full scholarship of three years’ duration will be offered to a graduate of Linguistics to pursue Masters in Linguistics at the SWUFE from September 2023. She met graduates and undergraduates of BA Honours in Linguistics with regard to her current project on Nominal Phrases in Chinese and Sinhala and conducted research at the university library.
