The Centre for Chinese Studies is a research and development unit attached to the Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya. The establishment of this research centre is a result of long term friendship, economic, cultural, social and political cooperation between Sri Lanka and China.

International Conference on Chinese Studies
The inauguration ceremony of the International Conference on ‘Enhancing Sri Lanka – China Socio – Economic and Cultural Cooperation’ which was organized by the Centre for Chinese Studies of the Department of Modern Languages of the Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya with the collaboration of the Confucius Centre was held on 22nd September 2016 at the Dharmaloka Hall of the University of Kelaniya.

The inauguration ceremony of the International Conference on ‘Enhancing Sri Lanka – China Socio – Economic and Cultural Cooperation’ which was organized by the Centre for Chinese Studies of the Department of Modern Languages of the Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya with the collaboration of the Confucius Centre was held on 22nd September 2016 at the Dharmaloka Hall of the University of Kelaniya.
This conference was inaugurated by Senior Professor Sunanda Madduma Bandara, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya and Ms. Pang Chunxue, the Political Counsellor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka graced this event as the Chief Guest.
