A virtual discussion was held on future collaboration with the Institute of Asian and African Studies, Lomonosov Moscow State University on 11th July 2022 initiated by the Embassy of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation.
The focus was on cooperation in the areas of the teaching of Sinhala, Sri Lankan culture, history and international relations. A visit in September to the University of Kelaniya and a collaborative workshop in October are envisaged.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation was represented by Mr. Chamila Jayarathna, Minister Counsellor, Ms. Olessya Romanova, PA to Ambassador and Ms. Julia Belyaeva, Interpreter. The participants from MSU were Prof. Alexey Maslov, Acting Director, Boris Zakharyin, Head of the Department of Indian Philology, Aleksandra Safronova, Head of the Department of South Asian History, Boris Volkhonskiy, Associate Professor, Department of Indian Philology and Ms. Ekaterina Sintsova, Deputy Director for International Cooperation.
The Department of Sinhala was represented by Senior Lecturer Dr. Anjalee Wickramasinghe. Senior Professor Neelakshi C. Premawardhena coordinated the meeting on behalf of University of Kelaniya.
