In January 2024 she was honored with the Vice Chancellor's Award for Successful Director of a Centre or Unit for 2023, recognizing her exceptional leadership at the helm of the Centre for International Affairs.
In December 2023, Professor Premawardhena was recognized at the inaugural Excellence in Humanities Awards of the Faculty of Humanities. The first accolade celebrated her Scholarly Excellence in research and publications, underscoring her substantial contributions to the academic landscape throughout 2023. The second honor, the Service Excellence Award, acknowledged her dedicated service since 2011 as the Director of the Centre for International Affairs, where she served the university as a distinguished member of the Faculty of Humanities.
