Erasmus Days 2024 University of Kelaniya celebrated on 15th October

Erasmus Days 2024 University of Kelaniya was held as a virtual event on 15th October 2024 for the fifth consecutive year. This year’s event was conducted under the auspices of the Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Madhawa Chandrathilaka. The aim of the event was to meet local and international Erasmus Alumni of the University of Kelaniya where the number has risen to over 150 now and to share recent experiences.  The event was attended by Deans of Faculty, Erasmus Alumni, Registrar, Senior Academic and Administrative Staff, Student Volunteers, past Coordinators of the Centre for International Affairs and interested and interested students. Dr. Jonann Hesse, the Head of Operations and Ms. Seuwandi Yapa, Project Managet of the Delegation to the European Union for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Ms. Sasika Liyanage, Director, Overseas Education, Ministry of Education Higher Education Division and Ms. Thushara Muthukumarana, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education Higher Education Division, Ms. Nimaya Manudeva, Regional Officer of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) attended the event and gave their feedback on the success of Erasmus Programmes and international projects during the event.

Over 130 participants including Erasmus and other international partners from Croatia, Germany, Poland, Portugal, France, Estonia, China, Japan took part in the event. The first part of the session was devoted to Erasmus Experience including the introduction of the new Capacity Building in Higher Education Project and the second part was devoted exposure gained from international projects by undergraduates. The University of Siegen, Germany alumni academies since 2021 were a highlight with a presentation by Prof. Dr. Mathias Wirths on the significance of collaboration with the University of Kelaniya including student participation.
