Heartfelt congratulations to our very own chess prodigy T H D Niklesha Tharushi, for her remarkable achievement as the Second Runner-Up in the Sri Lanka Women's National Chess Championship 2024!. 

T H D Niklesha Tharushi (ME/2022/159) is a 1st year undergraduate of Faculty of Medicine and is a member of the Chess (Women) of the university.

Only top 14 ranked women players were eligible to play Chess Women’s National Championship. Niklesha was the rank 10 player of the Starting rank list of players and managed to become rank 3 final Ranking after 13 Rounds.

The Women’s National Championship organized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka and was held from 2024/03/22 to 2024/03/31at Sports Medicine Institute, Colombo 07.

Niklesha’s dedication and talent have brought pride to University of Kelaniya.
