Congratulations to our exceptional chess player, Chirath Hettiarachchi, for achieving Equal Second in the Mora Kings BLITZ International Open Rated Chess Championship 2024.

Chirath Hettiarachchi (BS/2021/128) is a 1st year undergraduate of the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya and member of the Chess (Men) team of the university. 

This International Chess Championship was organized by the Mora Chess in collaboration with Division of Physical Education, University of Moratuwa was held from 2024/03/28 to 2024/04/01 at the University of Moratuwa premises. 564 men and women players participated for this championship. 

Charith’s impressive performance brings honour to the University of Kelaniya and inspires UoK Chess to strive for greatness on the chessboard.
