The University of Kelaniya proudly celebrates the remarkable international achievements of its student-athletes, Ms. Parami Amalka Rajapaksha and Mr. Shrawaka Dhamsara, who secured Silver Medals at the 10th South Asian Karate Championship 2026 held in Dhaka, Bangladesh 15th July 2026 to 19th July 2026.

Parami Amalka Rajapaksha, a 3rd-year undergraduate and the Vice-Captain of the University’s Women's Karate Team, won the Silver Medal in the Female -45kg Senior Individual Kumite event. Demonstrating equal excellence, Shrawaka Dhamsara, a 1st-year undergraduate and vital member of the Men's Karate Team, clinched the Silver Medal in the Under 21 Individual Kumite (+84kg) event.

Both exceptional martial artists are currently pursuing their BSc Honours Degree in Sports Science, offered by the Sports and Exercise Unit of the Faculty of Science. The University of Kelaniya extends its warmest congratulations to Parami and Shrawaka for bringing glory to both their alma mater and Sri Lanka on the international stage.
