The Inter-University chess Championship 2024 organized by the Universiry of the Visual and Performaning Arts, was held from 6th to 8th of December at the University of the Visual and Performaning Arts. 16 Teams each from both men and women categories, representing all state universities, participated in this Championships.

In the Women's Championship, the University of Kelaniya emerged as the 1st Runner-up, and the Universities of Peradeniya and Moratuwa won the Championship and 2nd runners-up respectively.

Also, the University of Kelaniya won the 2nd runners-up in the men's Championship in the Inter-University Chess Championship, while the Universities of Moratuwa and the Peradeniya won the Championship and 1st Runner-up respectively.
