Heritage Lecture Series

05^th lecture of the lecture series on heritage studies organized by the Centre for Heritage Studies of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 26^th of September 2018 at the Auditorium of the Staff Development Centre. “Cultural Heritage of Pondicherry” was the theme of the lecture series which was held with the objective of broadening the knowledge regarding ‘Tangible and Intangible Heritage’.

Prof. N.K. Kumaresan Raja, Pondicherry University, India conducted the lecture and Senior Prof. Anura Manathunga, Director- Centre for Heritage Studies, Senior Lecturer Dr. Prashanthi Narangoda, Head- Department of Fine Arts, Prof. Malinga Amarasinghe including the academic staff members and students graced the event.

The fourth lecture of “Heritage Lecture Series” was conducted by Dr. Kanti Kumar Pawar, Post Graduate and Research Institute, Deccan College, India on the topic “Early Iron Age in South Asia with special reference to the Megalithic Culture in Indian Subcontinent”. Staff members and undergraduates of University of Kelaniya and some other scholars participated for this lecture.

The third lecture of “Heritage Lecture Series” was conducted by Professor Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa, University of Kelaniya on the topic of “D. B. Jayatilake Memorial Lecture”. Staff members and undergraduates of University of Kelaniya and some other scholars participated for this lecture.

The second lecture of “Heritage Lecture Series” was conducted by Professor Anura Manatunaga, Director, Centre for Heritage Studies, University of Kelaniya on the topic of “An Identification of Padhanagara Monasteries as Jain Theerthakarama”. Staff members and undergraduates of University of Kelaniya and some other scholars participated for this lecture.
