The Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of the University of Kelaniya successfully conducted the Pre-Workshop for Career Fair 2026 on 15th October 2025, from 9.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. at the K2-002 Hall, Faculty of Social Sciences. The event was organized by the Career Guidance Unit in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Sri Lanka and LED KLN.
The workshop comprised two insightful sessions designed to strengthen undergraduates’ employability and professional readiness. The first session titled “Improve Your Digital Profile to Win Opportunities,” was conducted by Mr. G.H.B.A. De Silva, Senior Lecturer and Director – Digital Communication of the University of Kelaniya. The session focused on developing essential virtual profile skills using platforms such as LinkedIn and Facebook, effective personal branding, and creating a strong digital presence to support long-term career growth.The second session was “Unlocking Future with CVs and Interviews” and led by Ms. Thilini Kelaniyage, Manager – Business School and CMI (UK) Program Director, CIPM Sri Lanka. She guided participants on crafting winning CVs, discovering effective interview techniques, and building the confidence to stand out in competitive recruitment settings.
Over 150 undergraduates actively participated in the sessions. The main objective was gaining valuable insights into enhancing undergraduates digital identity, preparing professional CVs, and excelling in interviews. Interactive activities and live interview demonstrations provided participants with practical, real-world exposure to professional recruitment environments. Present at the occasion Senior Professor Dilkushi Wettewe, Director of the Career Guidance Unit along with Mr. K. A. M. Viraj Abeysinghe and Mrs. R. P. A. Minoon Perera, Career Counsellors of the University of Kelaniya.
The dedicated organizing committee of LED-KLN played a vital role in the event. LED-KLN showcased their commitment, leadership skills, and teamwork throughout the event. Serving as a preparatory platform for the upcoming Career Fair 2026 from pre-workshop was an inspiring start to a series of initiatives by the Career Guidance Unit and its partners to empower the next generation of graduates.
