Workshops

An Awareness Programme on Safe Migration, organized by the Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of the University of Kelaniya in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), was held on the 26th of November 2024 at the CGU Auditorium of the University of Kelaniya.

The main objective of the workshop was to empower undergraduates by addressing knowledge gaps related to safe migration practices and procedures. The workshop featured insightful sessions conducted by Ms. Maheshika Kenwaththe and Ms. Dinithi Wijayasekera, Project Coordinators from IOM. The event was graced by the presence of Senior Professor Dilkushi Wettewe, Director of the Career Guidance Unit, along with Mr. K. A. M. Viraj Abeysinghe and Mrs. R. P. A. Minoon Perera, Career Counsellors of the University. Moreover, 45 undergraduates actively participated in the programme.

Workshop for the Graduate Entrepreneur Exhibition & Sale (GEES) 2024, organized by the Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of the University of Kelaniya, was held on the 29th of October 2024 at the CGU Auditorium of the University of Kelaniya.

The main objective of the workshop was to enhance students' awareness about the Graduate Entrepreneur Exhibition & Sale (GEES) 2024 and develop their essential entrepreneur skills needed to become successful entrepreneurs.

The workshop was conducted by Ms. W. A. D. S. P. Withanaarachchi, Enterprise Development Officer of the Divisional Secretariat, Kelaniya.

37 graduate entrepreneurs attended the workshop, while Senior Professor Dilkushi Wettewe, the Director of the Career Guidance Unit of the University of Kelaniya; Mr. K. A. M. Viraj Abeysinghe, Career Counsellor of the University of Kelaniya; and Mrs. R. P. A. Minoon Perera, Career Counsellor of the University of Kelaniya, were present at the occasion.

The University of Kelaniya Rover Crew successfully held its first-ever meeting on the 24th of October 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Cyber Ground of University of kelaniya. The event was led by Rover Scout Leaders Mr. Sampath Kariyawasam and Mr. Indika Prasanna, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the University's scouting community.

During the meeting, the crew appointed key positions, setting the foundation for future activities. Participants engaged in a variety of interactive sessions, including learning how to conduct an opening rally, playing team-building games, and mastering the art of the Rover yell. The event was designed to promote teamwork, leadership, and communication skills among the new members, all while creating a fun and inclusive environment.The first meeting provided a platform for students to connect with one another, fostering new friendships and developing essential soft skills that will benefit them in their academic and personal lives. The University of Kelaniya Rover Crew is expected to continue its growth, aiming to develop well-rounded individuals through its engaging programs and activities.

The Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of the University of Kelaniya conducted a workshop titled “Boost Your Career with Social Etiquette” on the 24th of October 2024 at the CGU Auditorium.

The workshop aimed to enhance students' professional image by equipping them with essential skills for career success.

Dr. Shiru Wijemanna (LCGI), a Grooming Consultant, Lecturer, Trainer, and Senior Beautician, led the session, incorporating practical activities to engage participants. The workshop focused on four key areas: Social Etiquette, Dining Etiquette, Personal Hygiene, and Personality Development.

Fifty undergraduates from all faculties, who had registered in advance, attended the event. Present at the event were Mr. K. A. M. Viraj Abeysinghe and Mrs. R. P. A. Minoon Perera, Career Counsellors at the University of Kelaniya.
