Soft Skills Development Programmes

Program 09: For the 4th Year Undergraduates of the Department of Archaeology

Career Guidance Unit supports the soft skills development program “CV Writing and How to face an Interview to the Department of Archaeology. The Department of Archaeology in collaboration with the Career Guidance Unit, University of Kelaniya organized a Soft Skills development program at K27 -203, Faculty of Social Science on 11th June. A total of 79 students attended the program. The workshop commenced with a motivational talk on ‘Soft-skills for Life’ by Mr. Mohan Palliyaguru, Key Trainer/Motivational Speaker- Life skill academy.

Program 08: Focusing on improving Communication and Leadership skills to Department of Botany

This workshop was conducted for the third year undergraduates of the Department of Botany, Faculty of Science. The resource person of the event was the Human Resource Development Officer Ms. Kanchana Geethani. The Dean of the Faculty of Science, The Director of the Career Guidance Unit, the Head of the Department of Botany, the Coordinator of the event and Career counsellors participated in this event.

Program 06: Developing Thinking patterns to Department of Mathematics

This workshop was attended by the first year students from the Department of Mathematics. The CGU Director, the Dean of the Faculty of Science, the Head of the Department, the coordinator of the workshop Dr. Nadeeka Premarathna, CGU Career Counselors Ms. Sandhaya Amarasinhe and Ms. Subha Rathnayaka also participated in the event. The resource person of the event was the Managing Partner of IBT consultants, Chartered Accountants, CEO of online Tax Advisor pvt. Ltd,Mr.Viraj Saman Kumara. The workshop provided the undergraduates with a comprehensive understanding of thinking patterns that are useful in leading a successful professional life. The student feedback indicated that this event was really successful. 

Program 05: CV Clinic to Department of Commerce and Financial Management

This workshop was attended by the first year students from the Department of Commerce and Financial Management studies. The CGU Director, the Head of the Department, the coordinator of the workshop Mr. Hashan Wimalasiri, CGU Career Counselors Ms. Sandhaya Amarasinhe and Ms. Subha Rathnayaka also participated in the event.The resource person of the event was the General Manager of the Project Corporations, Mr.Heshan Karunarathne . The workshop provided the undergraduates with valuable training on how to design a CV following the latest formats. The Head of the Department noted that the workshop was really productive and fruitful.

Program 02-04: How to Achieve Fulfilling Careers to Faculty of Science

Program 03 – Graduate Attribute for Employment in the industry. Resource Person – Mr: Sandamal Ranathunga Venue – A1, (Shree Dharmaloka Hall) Date: 20th March 2019 Time: 9.30am-10.30 pm 

Program 04 – Developing Leadership and Managing Social Media Related Crimes. Resource Person - SP Nishantha Chandrasekara Venue – A1, (Shree Dharmaloka Hall) Date: 20th March 2019 Time: 11am-12.30 pm
